A new month and new school happenings!
The month of February has brought new things for the school with it. The biggest change is the name. Instead of Blessing School For The Visually Impaired (BSVI) it is now Blessing Vision Unity Academy (BLEVA).

The next new thing is there will be monthly birthday celebrations! These birthday celebrations will recognize the students and staff that have birthdays that month.
Since we started in February, we combined the January and February birthdays. The 8 students and one staff member were very surprised and appreciative! Everyone is looking forward to celebrating birthdays now!

A School Visit Full of Smiles!

On January 20th our school missionary Alissa came with her husband Patrick to visit the students and staff. They were excited to see school taking place in the new building, happy to greet the students, teachers and staff, and to see the school moved. In every classroom they entered there were many smiles!

There was an added blessing in finding out that there had been a visitor. Ms Maja from Ohio in the USA has been connected with BSVI for many years. She came to visit and brought 32 hand made quilts to cover the students with love!
It was a great visit full of joy and excitement for what God has done so far.

A new year and a new building!
January 5, 2026 was the start of the 2nd school term, and we are so excited that we started this school term in our new building!
God is so good and we are so grateful to be in our new school building.
There are so many people who made this possible, and we thank them all from the bottom of our hearts!
As we get used to the new environment and settled in we will be able to see the true cost of maintaining our new place.
We thank God for His provision thus far, and we know He will continue to provide for our needs.
Please celebrate with us!

Willkommen Visitors!
On Thursday, November 13, 2025, we were deeply honored to welcome Janine, Jeanne, and the team from 1000 Hügel (Germany) on their first visit to Blessing School for the Visually Impaired (BSVI).
They came with warm hearts to learn about our mission and explore a possible partnership. Their compassion and interest in our children touched us deeply. We are truly grateful for the time they spent with our learners and staff — a visit filled with hope and encouragement.

Welcome African Joy

October 27, 2025

Today BSVI had a surprise visitor, Janet Kopponi and her hearing dog African Joy, also called AJ!

Janet told us she rescued AJ from the streets in Kigali when she saw a group of people mistreating her. She found a rescue to take care of her in Rwanda and went back home, but she couldn't leave her in Rwanda! Janet had AJ brought to California.
Once AJ got to California Janet began her training and she became a certified hearing dog.

Thank you for the visit Janet, and showing us how dogs can work with us to help those with disabilites!

On October 16, 2025, our teachers gathered to celebrate their dedication and love for educating children with visual impairments. Founder Dr. Jean Bosco NTAKIRUTIMANA encouraged them to keep serving with faith and excellence, reminding them that their work honors God and shapes the future.
A day of gratitude, joy, and inspiration!
Thank you teachers!

World Vision Rwanda

On October 10, 2025 World Vision Rwanda came and donated white canes to some of the students. We deeply appreciate their support and trust that this partnership will continue to grow and reach even greater levels of impact.

The gift of Friendship
Earlier this month, we had the immense pleasure of welcoming Michele Dudley and her team. Their visit was more than a gesture it was a powerful reminder of the global heart that beats for education and compassionate outreach.
This visit was filled with shared smiles, meaningful conversations, and renewed commitment to creating opportunities for every child regardless of their abilities to thrive.
Thank you, Michelle and team, for your support, your kindness, and for being part of our journey toward a brighter future!
